Located in the extreme end of the country to the south-east, N’zerekore is the third largest city of Guinea (West Africa) and the metropolis of the fourth natural region of Guinea, an area best known as « Forested Region ». Populated with over 200 thousand inhabitants.
This city owes its importance to its demography. Considered to be the melting pot of all the main Guinean ethnic groups, N’zerekore is a true mosaic where different cultures, languages and religions (Christianity, Islam and Animism) crisscross. Beyond the national diversity, N’zerekore also is home to important communities of Liberian and Ivorian origins, initially arrived as refugees having fled the war in their respective countries but eventually integrated into the local communities. This has further strengthened the ties between the city of N’zerekore and these two neighboring countries, Côte d’Ivoire to the east and Liberia to the south. There are also nationals from other neighboring countries, including Mali, Senegal, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso. Populations mainly use French, Kpèlè and Malinké (koniaka) to communicate.
N’Zérékoré is a city of hills and lowlands enjoying a subequatorial climate, mild and rainy from March to November, which makes it a green city.
It is the main commercial hub for agricultural products from surrounding areas for local consumption, such as rice, corn, cassava, palm oil, sweet potato, taro, okra, cucumber, eggplant. And for export, including coffee, cocoa, and cola. The economy of the city is also based on many small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurship, mainly in the sawmill, tailoring, hairdressing, carpentry, crafts, mechanics, bakery, butcher, tapestry, etc. It also houses the governorate of the region, the prefecture, the regional hospital, schools, a university, large markets, banks, mosques, and churches … It is in the heart of this beautiful city that is located our beautiful school, Elhadj Morissala Kante School Group.
